Flossing is as important as brushing. Those who only brush are not cleaning half of the surfaces of their teeth. Plaque, the layer of bacterial that accumulates on teeth, will cause tooth decay, calculus (tartar)
build up and gum disease when it is left undisturbed. There should be a special prize for any product that simplifies flossing. Oral-B's Super Floss is such a product. Super Floss is a single piece of floss that has three distinct sections, a thin firm end, a fluffy thick mid-section, and a long, thin tail. Most people will be able to use this product to advantage.
The use of the thin tail section is the same as for typical dental floss. It will slide between easily, and is long enough to grasp effectively. This is the section that most people will use to clean around most of their teeth. For those who only use this section of Super Floss, Super Floss is superfluous.
The fluffy section of Super Floss is more effective than thin floss between teeth with large spaces (dentists call the space between teeth "embrasures" and a large space a "diastema"). Sure, it is fine to use acrylic yarn to clean these diastemata or spaces, but Super Floss makes flossing more convenient by combining thin and thick floss.
The firm end of Super Floss is for use as a floss threader. Floss threaders are handy to pass floss between teeth that are attached together as with braces or dental bridgework. Once again, it is possible to use separate floss threaders as one would a sewing needle to pass floss between teeth or under bridgework; however, Super Floss combines the threader with floss simplifying the task.
Oral-B Super Floss is a simple product, easy to understand and use. At about three dollars for 50 pieces, Super Floss costs about the same as paying for floss with separate floss threaders. Super Floss is available in most pharmacies and grocery stores in the oral health section. If you are not sure if this product is right for you, please ask your dentist or dental hygienist.
